Rome Metro has a station just outside the Vatican walls at Ottaviano-S Pietro. It’s a 5 minute walk from the Metro to St Peter’s Square and Vatican Museums.

Rome and Vatican City are both super busy, so if you can buy ‘skip the queue’ tickets, then this is something we would recommend. We used Viator.
